1975> George designs first auger mover for the farm

1976> Round-About Auger Mover is operational

1982> George applies for patent for the Round-About Auger Mover

1983> Updates Round-About with hydraulic functions

1983> Business begins as E-Kay Plans (E-Kay being short for Ekman)

1984> George & Joan attend first Agri-Trade show in Red Deer, Alberta with son Leroy

1985> George begins to develop the Hydra-Sweep

1986> George builds 6 Hydra-Sweeps for customers and neighbors

1987> George develops the E-Kay Crop Lifter and markets through Peavy Mart

1987> George develops the Clutch-Free Electric design Belt tensioner for Augers, named the Auger-Stop

1989> Leroy joins the family business to work in production and later takes on role of shop manager

1989> E-Kay moves to the Town of Sedgewick, AB

1990> Leroy designs new standard Auger Mover for Sakundiak Augers

1991> E-Kay Plans is registered as E-Kay Enterprises Ltd.

1994> George concentrates on management, marketing and trade shows

1999> The first E-Kay Hydra-auger is developed for a local customer  

1999> Sedgewick shop burns down, Peter Spady and family offer their shop for the interim

2000> E-Kay rents new location between Killam & Sedgewick, AB to continue operations in

2000> E-Kay Crop Dividers are released

2005> E-Kay Slim-Fit Intake for augers are built

2007> E-Kay relocates to Biggar, SK to centralize operations across the prairies

2010> First Sea Container of Crop Dividers are shipped to Australia  

2011> No-Spill Auger Hopper is released

2012> Remote throttle for grain augers is designed
2012> The 1st Ekman grandson Dakota begins working in Parts, Sales & Administration

2013> E-Kay expands into the former Biggar Auto Body shop.

2013> E-Kay staff now consists of 27 staff in seven departments, from design to assembly

2013> E-Kay attends 30th Anniversary Agri-Trade Show as a founding exhibitor

2014> George and Leroy reach 25 years of accomplishments together   

2014> E-Kay expands into the local machine shop in Biggar and purchases in a few years

2014> The XTL Extended Life series grain auger is introduced

2014> George retires, Leroy & Dakota take over Management responsibilities

2015> The 2nd Ekman grandson Dylan begins working in Parts Department

2017> Develop new Wide-track Crop Divider design for Australian market

2017> The 3rd Ekman grandson Daniel, begins working in Crop Divider Assembly

2018> Leroy takes over ownership and becomes Director of Operations

2019> The new 10” x 40’ Biggar Auger becomes a reality

2019> Leroy and Dakota travel to Australia to visit McIntosh Distribution and attend the Dowerin Machinery  Field Days trade show with E-Kay Crop Dividers

2020> Company colors are updated to Blue and Yellow on the new 12”x 35’ Biggar Auger

2022> Joan retires after 4 decades of service

2022> Dakota takes on roll of Administrative Supervisor/ IT Support/ HR

2022> E-Kay purchases the original Moody's Equipment building in Perdue for re-location and expands into  23,000 sq ft of space in 4 buildings

2023> E-Kay celebrates their 40th Anniversary at Ag in Motion

2024> The new 12x42 XTL Biggar Auger & 14x45 XTL U-Trough are developed with 56 hp Kohler diesel      engines

2022> The 4th Ekman grandson Dawson begins working in Crop Divider Assembly.

2026> The 14x44 XTL Biggar Auger is developed for Ag in Motion, celebrating the 50-year anniversary since George's first Round-About Auger from 1976.
